“The global market in the Roman Empire: marble statues, coins and luxury goods from all around the world”

The National Museum Palazzo Massimo alle Terme hosts a huge collection of masterpieces: one section is dedicated to the commercial routes and the luxury goods such as jewels, precious stone and perfumes in alabaster and glass  small vases. The numismatic section allows to understand the importance of coins to  re considered staus symbol for the wealthy Romans and the private portraits that follow strictly the official  iconography.
