The Vittoriano Complex in collaboration with the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalì in Figueres introduces a comprehensive and an entertaining retrospective exhibition dedicated to Salvador Dalì.

The layout is very modern and the theme is Salvador Dalì’s life as painter, designer and creative artist at 360 degrees, as well as his strong relationship with our country.

The exhibition opens with a dark room lit only by videos activated at random and shows   Dalì talking and exhibiting his works or his artistic theories and offering himself directly to his audience and spectators.

There are numerous photos and old magazines that remind exhibitions and events to which Salvador and Gala (his wife) attended, many drawings and  sketches, his surrealist paintings (Self-portrait with fried bacon, the architectural "Angelus" by Millet , Dematerialization near the nose of Nerone, the ghost of Sex Appeal, Eclipse and vegetable osmosis, the Madonna of Port Lligat) as well as sculptures (retrospective Bust of  Woman), and objects of design (such as the famous Mae West’s lips sofa,” Rosso Antico” bottles, "surrealistically unnecessary" objects for Alessi, the perfume), the costumes and  designs for theater (Rosalind and As You like It) and ballets.

Salvador Dalì loved Italy very much ( photos and videos of his travels to Venice, Rome, his visits to the garden of Bomarzo are showed). He studied Italian art (Self-Portrait with Raphael's neck, Elephant with an obelisk) and met  famous people like Luchino Visconti and Federico Fellini.

The great monographic exhibition closes with the short film “Destino “ made together wih Walt Disney.

An interesting and unusual  tour necessary to know one of the most irreverent and an unconventional artist of the twentieth century for whom art and life were inseparably linked!
